Traffic Management Implementation Program

Learn to Set Up and Manage Safe Traffic Worksites

Our Traffic Management Implementation (TMI) Course provides the essential skills and knowledge to set up, monitor, and close down Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGSs) in line with Queensland’s Transport and Main Roads (TMR) requirements.

This course is ideal for individuals responsible for implementing traffic management plans, including installing and removing signs and devices according to the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) Part 3 and AUSTROADS guidelines.

Course Overview

This nationally recognised training program develops the practical and theoretical skills required to:

  • Read, interpret, and implement traffic management plans

  • Set out and monitor traffic guidance schemes

  • Manage worksite safety and communication

  • Close down and clean up work areas safely

The course combines theory-based learning, simulated practical activities, and on-the-job experience to prepare you for real-world implementation.

Course Duration
  • Formal Training: 1 day (up to 9 supervised hours)

    • Includes theory training and assessment

  • Informal Training:

    • Simulated practicals: Minimum of 2 class set-ups completed on the same day as the assessment

    • On-the-job component: Minimum of 3 live site set-ups verified by third-party reports

Students must satisfactorily complete three site set-ups to be deemed competent.
Typical completion timeframe is 3 months, with extensions of up to 1 additional month considered in extenuating circumstances (documentation required).
