Renew Your Accreditation and Stay Job-Ready

Our Traffic Controller Renewal Course is designed for individuals who need to complete an approved Traffic Controller Renewal Training Program to maintain their accreditation under the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) Traffic Controller Accreditation Scheme.

This refresher ensures your skills and knowledge remain current so you can continue to perform traffic control duties safely and confidently in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries.

Course Overview

This course provides a theory refresher and assessment to confirm your ongoing competence in traffic control operations.

You’ll refresh and update your understanding of:

  • Planning and preparing for traffic control

  • Controlling traffic with a stop-slow bat

  • Operating communication devices

  • Cleaning up and securing the worksite

Course Duration
  • Formal training: Approximately 4 hours (Day 1)

  • Includes theory refresher and assessment

  • Additional workplace logbook hours: Minimum 20 supervised hours within 3 months of commencement

Before beginning workplace practice, students must:

  1. Present a General Construction Induction Training (GCIT/White Card)

  2. Complete a site-specific induction

Units of Competency

Upon successful completion, students will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for:

  • RIIWHS205E – Control traffic with a stop-slow bat

This unit forms part of the RII30820 Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations qualification.

Pre-Requisites

To enrol, participants must:

  • Hold a current Traffic Controller Industry Authority Card

  • Provide evidence of currency and competency as per the TMR Currency of Industry Practice requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Hold a current White Card (or equivalent)

What to Bring / Wear
  • High-visibility long sleeve shirt

  • Long pants

  • Work boots

  • Hard hat

  • Current driver’s licence and White Card

  • Completed COIP form and supporting evidence

All equipment, written materials, and stationery are provided.
